Taling Chan Floating Market

During Bangkok’s egzotic canals tour, we stopped at Taling Chan Floating Market for 20 minutes…Here is the captain of our long tail boat saying “19 minutes left!” looking over his mirrored sunglasses.  Ok, let’s keep going…

Taling Chan Floating Market is located on the canal Khlong Chak Phra. It is opened only at the weekends, between 8am-4.30pm.  If you’re in Bangkok only during the weekdays, you’ll be missing all the market fun as most of them are open at the weekends.

Taling Chan Floating Market is a few kilometers outside of Bangkok and it still protects its genuine atmosphere…What I mean by that is the number of locals > the number of tourists…Because just the opposite doesn’t look real any more…Look at the colors here!

Let’s enjoy Taling Chan Market while it still feels “local”…

44

Here you can enjoy a great variety of seafood lunch sitting on the floor with the locals…

55a

You can see fruits, vegetables and sead-food sold from the boats.

45

I just realized that: I have a yellow umbrella, a yellow bag and I am sitting on a yellow chair…These are all by chance, but yeah I like yellow for sure…

46

You can feed the fishes here…

47a

Nooooo! These are baby turtles! Don’t eat them, please…Snakes will be your choice, aggghhhh

48a

Lovely vendors but I can’t say it for the food…It looks interesting…

Let’s listen to some traditional Thai music and have a look at Taling Chan Market…

There are tones of food and it impossible to taste every one of them unless you wanna end up in the toilet…But these look nice…

Going into the red tunnel…

53

I’ll take the one in the middle, boiled corn with tea…

56a

Another traditional Thai music performance on the other side of the canal…

57

My favourite fruit is sliced pineapple…

58

Our captain is late for 1 minute! He was quite confident while counting back from 20, haha…19 minutes is enough to walk around Taling Chan Market, but it would be better if you don’t feel like you’re threatened by a captain wearing mirrored sun-glasses…It would be nice to sit and relax while having your lunch with locals…See you in the next article
