Where ever I go, there are 2 things that I won’t skip: Watching the sunrise and sunset…After I found a hotel in Siem Reap, it was clear what I was gonna do the next day…Catching the sunrise at Angkor Wat…I had been looking at the pictures of the sunrise at Angkor Wat so many times that I couldn’t wait to see it with my own eyes…
After 3 hours of sleep, I woke up at 4.30am and met Borey in front of my hotel and jumped into the tuktuk. Finally we’re on our way…It is dark, pitch dark…Street lamps are not working…All I can see are the tourists with their head lamps cycling…It is a bit scary as well as it is that dark but there is nothing to do but keep going…Then Borey is warning me “Hide your bag!”…How awesome… When we arrive at Angkor Wat, it is still pict dark…I am trying to find my way with the flash of my phone…
Instead of chosing the side way to go into Angkor Wat, I am taking my place right in front of the big water in front of the entrance of Angkor Wat…There are less people here…Excatly what I want…Why? Cause based on tones of articles I read, inside there is a crazy crowd waiting in front of the small lake to take exactly the same picture from the same angle…
Close to 5.30am with the sun shine, amazing colors start to surround us….
Finally the sun shows its face between the branches of the tree…
The group who is a bit late to catch the sunrise is going inside…I am happy that I am here right now…
Here I am:)
Soon the monkey community of Angkor Wat comes along…It turns out to be that Angkor Wat is their zone…
I am not the only one watching the sunrise hahah… The view is like hypnotizing everyone and everything…you can’t take your eyes off it…
After they eat their food, it is time to see them on action for their favourite second activity…
This banana beauty can’t get enough of hanging out in front of my camera…I’d better enjoy this volunteered modelling haha
Finally Miss decides to quit her modeling career and go after other bananas…

and I can take more pictures of Angkor Wat…
I should be in the some of the pictures as well…When you travel alone, you have two options, either to ask to tourists who are holding professional cameras in their hands so that they have a high posibilty to take a good picture or ask to locals but then you’ll get the question of “can we have a picture together?”, the other option is selfie sticks and remote controllers…I am fine with both.
Look who comes next to me and sits down while I am busy with taking hundreds of pictures of Angkor Wat…Doesn he have the image of being the elder and the magical healer of the monkey community?:) We watch around for a while in silence…
I am walking to go in thinking of the crowd inside already spreading around Angkor Wat…There are already some people leaving but we’re not done yet…
Once we’re out of the pink color that surrounded us, we are surrounded by the amazing transition of the color yellow…You’ll see what I mean in a second…
Passing through the steep steps…
Here is the magnificent view that you can’t take your eyes off.
To witness this beauty it is necessary to wake up quite early, keep going eventhough it is dark as you can2t even see your hands in front of your face, be patient and experience it all in a unique way cause as Beverly Sills said
There are not short cuts to places wort seeing.
I am leaving you alone with this view for a while…
Angkor Wat Temples take almost your whole day but you can step into this magnificant architecture by watching the sunrise at Angkor Wat.
In our next article we’ll dive deep into Angkor Wat temples and take a journey to the past…
