My first scuba diving experience with Gangga Divers

-Let the fears disappear-

I was always afraid of scuba diving of being under water, not being able to breath from my nose, the funny part is normally I don’t use my nose while breathing but what if I want to while under water hahaa, what if I cough or wanna laugh under water hahah you see how funny it sounds but to me they were like sound factors not to do scuba diving but thanks to Gangga Divers, I also got to realize how funny my excuses were haha.

Mario, the operations manager and chief instructor from Gangga Divers was with me throughout my discovery dives. He is from Philippines and he has been diving since he was 12 years old. He has dived in Philippines, Malasia, Dubai and basically most of the places around the world but he thinks that Moalboal is the best diving destination. I don’t know the other places but the place I did my scuba diving in Moalboal, in Sampaguita’s sea was so beautiful and rich in terms of diversity that it increased my expectations and comparison factors in the future. I felt lucky to have started scuba diving in this beautiful environment. There was so much to see and experience.

The story behind Gangga Divers is: a couple, years ago came down here and loved the nature and cancel their following plans and stayed here. That’s how Gangga Divers came here. Gangga Divers Center is right at the beach of Sampaguita Dive Resort.

The first time I put the wet suit on, I said to myself “what am I doing?”

Then they put the heavy belt on me and I said to myself again “ok, so this is getting serious!”

And then they put the oxygen tube on me and I said to myself that “gosh, there is no way back!”, I was still afraid…

The first lesson was about how to communicate under water and then safety and then how to breath. Then how to catch the oxygen cable under the water. How to clean the mask that’s what took me longer to do it properly haha cause I was breathing the water from my nose thanks to my fears hahah but Mario was really patient and understanding even though I was having a bit of panic in the beginning.

Then Mario put me under water again and as soon as I focused on the beauty of the under water world, I realized that my fears were fading away.

In the first discovery tour, Mario was holding me from the cable behind my neck to make me feel familiar with the environment and feel safe. Then we went to the coral reef where my jaw was almost gonna drop but because I was biting the oxygen cable although Mario said not to haha, my jaw was completely locked haha. Look at this beautiful blue sea star. We even saw a huge turtle but it was going way deeper so we couldn’t dive that deep on the first day. I am glad Mario was holding me back otherwise I would have followed the cute turtle haha.

You can do snorkelling here too. It is super rich in terms of sea life. There are so many things to see.

I never taught that I could be able to go that deep (6 meters – for me it is a huge step haha) and see these amazing life forms. I felt very safe and comfortable during my first discovery tour thanks to my instructor Mario from Gangga Divers.

The following day, I was able to clean my mask finally and not breathing from my nose haha. And this time Mario was holding me from my pressure cable time to time if I wasn’t able to arrange my altitude. But most of the time I was going side by side with him and never felt any nervousness. We went down to 8 meters this time.

This pose just sticked with me no matter where I am, whether on the water or under the water haha.

Some of my friends who saw this picture below before thought that I had been diving for long hahah. When they learnt that it was my second day, they were pretty surprised haha.

I will absolutely come back to Sampaguita Dive Resort to dive with Mario and Gangga Divers  and see more amazing life forms and different type of coral reef.
