Me and my friends have been following the reports to catch the autumn colors in Kyoto  and finally it was certain that we were going on the first weekend of December 2016 (2nd Friday till 4th Sunday) and to do as much as possible within 3 days. Let’s starts:)

TOFUKUJI TEMPLE

Tofukuji Temple is a large zen temple. It was built in 1236 but the it is a must see place in autumn colors.

The most popular spot is Tsutenkyo Bridge.

It is surrounded by maple trees.

When the colors are in peak, this place gets really crowded.

FUSHIMI INARI SHRINE

The path is covered with over  5,000 orange torii gates that makes Fushimi Inari Shrine one of the most popular shrines in Japan.

It also makes for a delightfully eerie stroll in the late afternoon and early evening, when the various graveyards and miniature shrines along the path take on a mysterious air.

The walk up to the hill is a pleasant day hike. Watching the sunset in the forest created an amazing experience in when the rays were coming through the branches and spreading around teh forest…

KIYOMIZU DERA

This is one of the most popular temples in Kyoto especially the night time. It is said that there are a lot of routines to complete inside the temple that will give you the love of your life or just be lucky.

You can watch the city up above and enjoy the night view. The only thing is it is extremely crowded and noisy, so bring your headphones:)

ARASHIYAMA-BAMBOO GROVE

Standing among these trees feels like it was another world…

kyoto33

Do you know how a bamboo tree cuts through the ground?

DCIM112GOPROG0336114.

It takes 5 years to water the seeds..5 years for no visible outcome…if you ever stop the watering process any time, the bamboo seeds die under the ground…if you keep watering it for 5 years no matter what, little bamboo tree finally cuts through the groups, yayyy!

But why do I tell you this? I am sure you have some people around you, the type of people who expect things to happen over night and when it doesn’t, they quit… but it is not about wishing, it is all about action and not once, it requires consistency and persistence…

ARASHIYAMA-RIVER SIDE

Now that’s a must-see place!

The colors, the air, the people….

There are nearby cafes and coffee places that will help you to feel what you’re seeing is real:)

KIMONOS IN EVERYDAY LIFE

I always thought that kimonos were not a part of the everyday life as like most of the places around the world but that was before I came to Kyoto…

kyoto38

Kimonos are an essential part of an everyday life…

kyoto-japan10

It still amazes me to see the kimono culture with the selfie culture:)

kyoto-japan3

I loved the kimonos so much that next time we visit Japan, we’ll make sure we put one on:)

kyoto-6

I’ll see you in the cherry blossoms in Tokyo in March 2017.

Love,

Evrim
