Hey guys,

Here is a short guide of Moalboal from where to stay to what to do for 5 days.

I have seen that Moalboal is an amazing place in Southern Cebu in Philippines. I simply loved it…So natural, laid back, quiet and has an amazing nature…

How to get to Moalboal?

My base is in Shanghai so I flew from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Hong Kong and from there I caught the connection flight to Mactan Airport in Cebu Island. The roundway trip ticket cost me 3,954RMB ( 638USD, July 2016). I flew with Cathay Pacific and Dragon Airlines and both of them were good in terms of food and service.

Once you are at Mactan Airport, you can either take a bus or taxi or you can ask your resort to pick you up in advance. Sampaguita Dive Resort arranged a pick up for me. It takes 3 hours and you go through 9 cities.

If you want to take the taxi to Moalboal, you need to negotiate the price with taxis, you can pay ₱2000-2500, they might charge ₱3000-4500, so better to negotiate (July 2016).

If you want to take the bus, this is the cheapest but it will take up to 4 hours maximum. To take the bus first, you need to take a taxi to go to the bus terminal and with white-metered taxis, it might cost you around ₱200. There is also another taxi company that is the yellow airport taxi and they are a bit more expensive, if you take them it might cost you around ₱300. The taxis are located at the right of the exit. Do not get into any car that doesn’t have a taxi sign on the top. When you arrive at the bus terminal, you need to take Ceres Liner with the yellow color. There are 2 types of buses, the buses with and without aircon. Travelling with bus won’t cost you more than ₱140-150 (July 2016).

Where to stay in Moalboal?

I stayed in Sampaguita Dive Resort. It is close to the city center and at the same peaceful, quiet and cozy. I am very glad that I chose to stay at Sampaguita Dive Resort because of its amazing sunrise and sunsets, having an amazing crystal clear sea, Gangga Divers Center that can help me to learn scuba diving, peaceful and quiet, yet close to the city center and to the other attraction spots.

What to do in Moalboal?

Moalboal has started to become more and more popular among travellers because of its natural beauty.  It offers different experiecnes to all budgets. So you’re in Moalboal and thingking of what to do, then here is my suggestions:

1) Watching the magical sunrises & sunsets

Moalboal is one of the top 5 destinations with its magical sunrises and sunsets. I am glad I was staying very close to the seaside so I got to experience different sunrises and sunsets. Sampaguita Dive Resort’s pier was a perfect spot to witness the beauty and also the Moalboal Seaside Park.

Get outside. Watch the sunrise. Watch the sunset. How does that make you feel? Does it make you feel big or tiny? Because there’s something good about feeling both.Amy Grant

I wasn’t a diver and I was a bit afraid of it too but I was lucky enough to made my mind to conquer my fears in one of the best diving destination, Moalboal. I did my discovery tours with Mario from Gangga Divers and felt comfortable and safe. As soon as I saw how beautiful the under water life was, my fears faded away.

3) Exploring Kawasan Waterfalls

Kawasan Waterfalls have started to attract more and more adventurers, It is known as a three-level-waterfall. The their waterfall at the top will turn you into a kid with its swing and natural slide. I had one of the best times playing in its cold waters, jumping and diving, I am sure you’ll like it too.

White Beach is well-known with its coral reef close to the shore so snorkelling here will give you a great understanding about the sea life. Plus, a pair of sea-shoes would help you a lot.
