The Vietnam Visa

THE VIETNAM VISA

Wanna have your visa on arrival?

You’re in the right place…The Vietnamese visa is not impossible for Turkish citizens but it is not easy either..Months ago when I said “now it is time for Vietnam and Laos”, some of my Turkish friends told me that “it is impossible”, “I should forget about  Vietnam”…You know what guys, this “impossible” is just not working for me…the best thing to do is to forget about the negative comments and go for whatever you want!

The easiest way, but a bit expensive

To find the fastest and safest way to get the Vietnam Visa, I asked all my friends around the world on the internet and finally got some good news…and I’ll share it with you now:

Get your Vietnam Visa on arrival at the airport!

How can I get the Invitation Letter?

Two of my friends shared this tourism agency and the contact person:

Ms Thuy, inbound@focusvietnam.com at  Focus Travel  (Please let her know that you get her contact through me, Evrim Kanbur from While Travelling Blog.)

Whereever you might be around the world, Focus Travel sends you the Invitation Letter in 7-10 business days when you pay 60$ . The documents that you need to send to the agency:

  • A scan copy of your passport (with high resolution)
  • the round way flight ticket
  • the hotel reservation ( it is ok if you show only the first day of your stay)

It is important to have a roundway trip ticket and you might consider to show where you are going to stay throughout your trip but again it is not a must. The travel agency will send you a link and through secure payment gate “https” you can finalize your payment. I was told that I could use the invitation letter only on arrivals at the airport.

I got my invitation letter and then what should I do?

I started to search about visa 2 months before my trip and got the invitation letter a month before. The invitation letter is written in Vietnamese and they put you in the same list with other Turkish people but it does’t mean that you have to travel with them.  The important thing is the red stamp on the invitation letter. Don’t forget to print it and don’t fold it.

Even though I got the invitation letter, some people were saying that I had to go to the consulate…so if sth unexpected happened, I would go to Laos so I took the Laos Lonely Planet Book with me too, just incase…

The critical part of my Vietnam Visa

I arrived Ho Chi Minh Airport and on my way to the visa department at the airport..

The police officer gave me a form (general information) to fill it in and asked for a picture but I forgot to bring one. Thankfully they were taking pictures over there. It is 5$ to have your picture taken here. I paid 30$ at the airport to get my Vietnam Visa on arrival.

My Vietnam Backpacking Adventure Officially Starts!

15 minutes later I got my Vietnam Visa!!!!

vietnam_vizesi60$ Invitation Letter + 25$ Visa Process +5$ photography = 90$ paid for Vietnam Visa. It was a bit expensive but it was worth it! now my solo female backpacking adventure officially starts!!!
